Zedd, Maren Morris, Grey – ‘The Middle’

The platinum producer Zedd from Germany is one of the best when it comes to creating music. Hailing from Myspace and an early close-relationship with Skrillex, he has evolved into one of the industry’s most sought-after electronic artists. He even won a Grammy for his first studio album Clarity.

From his friendship with Skrillex, he also learned how to help other producers, up and away.

Zedd has also included the Los Angeles, California-based brothers Grey (Kyle and Michael Trewartha) on this track. They started out remixing Zedd’s “Papercut” back in 2015, and later on made the single “Starving,” which featured Hailee Steinfeldt.

Now the follow up track, “The Middle,” is out and with incredible vocals from the Spanish singer Maren Morris.

This record specifically took a painfully long time from start to finish. It started back in April 2017 with a demo from Sarah Aaron (who I also did ‘Stay’ with) and Grey. We went through several major lyric and arrangement changes and ended up recording over 15 different singers on the hunt for the perfect voice. We found the missing piece of the puzzle when we finally recorded Maren. She has the perfect voice for this song.

Anton Zaslavski, better known by his stage name Zedd, is a Russion-German DJ, musician, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and record producer. His music is generally focused on electro house, but he’s recently taken a dive into pop music. His most recent collaborations with Alessia Cara (“Stay“), Foxes (“Clarity“), and Ariana Grande (“Break Free“) achieved immense support from around the world and smashed the Billboard Hot 100 charts. At the 56th Grammy Awards, Zedd won Best Dance Recording for his track “Clarity.”
