Taking place March 29 through March 31, Ultra Music Festival has found a new home in Virginia Key, an island just off of Biscayne Bay, for its 2019 celebration.

The iconic festival, which formerly took place at Bayfront Park, has stirred controversy amongst Miami residents. The Miami commissioners stated that the festival is simply “too loud for the growing residential neighborhood.”

Ultra Music Festival has made an agreement with the city of Miami to pay $2 million and have the license reviewed (and potentially revoked) after the annual 2019 festival celebration.

The approval for the festival moving to Virginia Key was four to one. Commissioner Ken Russell voted against it, citing the potential damage to the environment and wildlife.

Earlier last week, representatives of Ultra responded to a “false and misleading” video that Key Biscayne Mayor-elect Michael Davey released.
