Technics is known for creating some of the most state-of-the-art vinyl record turntables of the modern era. The company brought its turntable back in 2015, but it came with a $1,699 price tag for their entry-level SL-1200GR model. Technics has upped its game once again and has introduced two new turntables, and they’re going to cost a beastly $10,000 and $20,000, respectively.

The new models of turntables were introduced at CES in Las Vegas and are updated versions of their classic SP-10 and SL-1000 predecessors. These decks are built and engineered for audiophiles and avid music listeners with deep pockets.
The SP-10R is the entry level model and will cost you an impressive $10,000. The SL-1000R, however, dangles a price tag of $20,000.

According to Factmag, “The SP-10R is powered by a cordless direct drive motor, with the rubber-dampened aluminium platter stabilized by a 10mmm brass weight, giving it a mass of 7.9kg.”
The iconic turntable manufacturer has a reputation for unveiling high-end, premium models and then releasing its more affordable consumer models shortly after. The more affordable models, however, have yet to be unveiled and probably won’t hit the market until at least 2019 or later.
