Marshmello‘s new music keeps getting sweeter.
Masked DJ, producer, and songwriter Marshmello has teamed up with Puerto Rican rapper Farruko for a fiery collaboration on “Esta Vida,” which translates to “This Life” in English. They premiered the song during Marshmello’s headlining Ultra Music Festival set in front of more than 50,000 fans.
“Esta Vida” is a culmination of Marshmello’s immersive and ever-evolving electronic pop sound. Although we’re not greeted with the trap-infused punch we’re familiar with, the superstar producer showcases his sonic fluidity with ease. Farruko’s exciting vocals dance atop the glistening synths, brass instruments, and effects.
The song is partnered with a beautiful music video that was directed by Justice Silvera. In the music video, Farruko lives two lives: one as a man who is homeless, and another as a celebrity surrounded by fame and fortune before his descent. Both Marshmello and Farruko tell their stories of success and failure in the video.

“Esta Vida” arrives shortly after Marshmello’s hugely successful collaboration with Manuel Turizo on “El Merengue.” The song has already gained more than 87.5 million streams in the first month and landed high up in Spotify’s Global Top 50 and Apple Music’s Latin Top 50.
Marshmello tapping into Spanish music is a new venture for the masked global superstar, and he’s fully committed and embracing it. During his EDC Mexico performance, he teased another Spanish track with Mexican artists Fuerza Regida and Peso Pluma. The hype continued to rise after he announced on Instagram that he was “working on myself… and a new album.”
