Danish dance music artist Faustix has breathed new life into Jengi’s viral TikTok hit “Bel Mercy.”

Jengi’s original version of “Bel Mercy” went viral on TikTok after Beatport shared a video of a baby, which has been dubbed as the “ski rave baby,” dancing in the mountains bundled up in winter gear. The baby wasn’t necessarily shuffling, but they were setting the tone for the next generation of ravers.

Faustix’s remix, which was released under Mad Decent, emerges with a filtered four-on-the-floor percussive rhythm. Acidic sounds work their way in alongside the minimalistic sound of the chordal movements. Throughout the entire remix, Faustix keeps it straightforward, allowing for the kick elements and synths sweep listeners right onto their feet. The pitched beep that Jengi spotlit throughout this track makes it an instant hit–and one that will be remembered for some time.

The original version of “Bel Mercy” has continued to make its way into viewers’ For You pages on TikTok, as well as in Diplo and Sam Divine’s sets. Furthermore, Arielle Free and Danny Howard heavily aided in the track’s success by throwing it into rotation on their radio stations.

The song samples a classic reggae track from Super Beagle called “Dust a Sound Boy.” In fact, Jengi began working on the track after his laptop was stolen, according to Sport Playlists. Starting fresh allowed him to open his creative vision and make the best music of his career.

“I was on a short trip in Berlin and my laptop got stolen,” Jengi told Sport Playlists at the time. “All the music I had made recently was gone. ‘Bel Mercy’ was one of the first tracks I made after getting back home together with the rest of the Berlin Trauma EP. This bad experience resulted in making the most naturally instinctive music I had ever made. So at the end, I’m actually grateful that my laptop got stolen.”
