DJ Diesel has made his foray into the catalog of legendary Canadian dance label Monstercat.
Titled “BANG YOUR HEAD” and in collaboration with fellow bass music producer Hairitage, the track is perhaps one of the former NBA star turned DJ’s heaviest, most notable tracks to date.
DJ Diesel previewed “BANG YOUR HEAD” last year during a performance in San Marcos. Hairitage joined Diesel on stage, where they dropped the track and set fire to the dance floor.
Opening with a boom and dark piano, Diesel and Hairitage take no time whatsoever to build into the cataclysmic bass, synths, and vocals fans have grown to expect and love from him. The song doesn’t allow for much breathing room, so don’t expect to get much of a break between the fluttering synths and energetic vocals.
The song is the first to be released from DJ Diesel’s forthcoming album, which does not yet have a release date.
“‘Bang Your Head’ is my first single off my new album that will be dropping with Monstercat. I am so excited to be working with them and to be releasing multiple singles leading into the album starting with this one,” Diesel said in a press release shared with EDM.com. “Hairitage and I have been working on ‘Bang Your Head’ for over a year now. Aaron would come out to my shows just so we could work on it in the green room or in the car and make this a banger. This record goes HARD and makes you want to bang your head… so do it.”
This staple track didn’t happen overnight, either. It’s taken the two producers two years to complete the song. Fueled by DJ Diesel’s passion for music, Hairitage said that the “creativity has been off the charts.”
“Collaborating with the legendary Shaq on our latest track ‘Bang Your Head’ has been an awesome journey,” added Hairitage. “It’s been two years in the making, and the creativity that went into this collaboration has been off the charts. Shaq’s passion for music is unmatched, and his larger-than-life personality made this project so much fun to work on.”
Last year, Diesel held a special New Years event called the “Shaq’tacular Spectacular” in virtual reality. The event was presented by Meta and had artists like Cardi B, Lil Yachty, and Ludacris perform.
