26-year-old house music maven ACRAZE has brought Natasha Bedingfield’s classic “Pocketful of Sunshine” back into the light for an empowering tech house remake.
“Take Me Away” pulls that powerful portion of Bedingfield’s vocal and makes it entirely his own. Built upon a brisk plucky bass line, distant reverbs, and a mountain of vocal effects, Bedingfield’s vocal is allowed to journey through sound. ACRAZE bakes in piercing percussive elements with tons of playful effects that expose his perfectionism and lust for “ear candy.”
“I grew up listening to Natasha Bedingfield, so I was super excited to get her approval on this song,” ACRAZE told EDM.com. “I started working on the track about two years ago, but got the inspiration to finish it last year, before my Paris show with DJ Snake at Parc de Princes. When I played it for the first time, the crowd went absolutely nuts, and I knew right away that I had to release it.”
If you’re ready to take a nostalgic run back to 2008, give “Take Me Away” a listen below.
ACRAZE took to Instagram to share a fun teaser for the track. Captioned, “@natashabedingfield you ready?” the post is paired with screen recordings of ACRAZE FaceTiming Bedingfield, asking if she’s ready. The 2000s hitmaker approved with a firm and smiley, “Let’s do it.”
